I've done a lot of domain sleuthing over the years, and probably bought way too many domains.
Currently I've got 30+ “genius domains” sitting there rotting in my Namecheap and GoDaddy accounts.
But that's alright, because this is about you.

Before I reveal my super secret list of the best domain name generators known to man, let's quickly recap what you want from a domain name generator:
- It should be super fast – you don't have all day
- It should be accurate – you don't want random words
- It should be in real time – and show you domains that are actually available
- It should be creative – and show you stuff you didn't think about
- It should make buying easy – one click and done
Now not all of these generators are going to hit all of these with perfect marks, but test out all the ones I'm recommending, and find what works for you.
Bonus!: in fact, as you'll see below, a domain name generator is also a business name generator. Since many new web startups think of the domain and business at the same time, they go hand in hand. As you see below with the Shopify option, they're specifically calling that out, but you can use any of these to also generate that sexy business name.
1. Lean Domain Search

Although this domain generator’s name may suggest that the tool is only for generating name ideas for businesses, Shopify Business Name Generator can also deliver great and available name ideas for web domains. You can start by choosing any keyword that you want to be included in your domain, and Shopify Business Name Generator will come up with hundreds of possible and available suggestions. Although Shopify Business Name Generator will encourage you to create a Shopify shop with them using the domain name they have suggested, you can go anywhere else you like to purchase the rights to the web address. It is important to note that Shopify Business Name Generator will only suggest domain names using the “.com” extension so if you need to use any other extension like “.net” or “.org” then this may not be the domain name generator tool for you.
3. Bust A Name
Bust A Name is a domain generator tool that comes with many different filtering tools to help you find a top-quality domain name that meets all your specific needs. Just start by filtering for keywords, then choose options like “starts” or “ends” using your keyword. You can then filter by how authentic, creative, or natural you want your domain name to look. You can also choose your own character limit or to show domains that are taken and unavailable, as well as filter by extensions such as “.com, “.org”, “.net”, et cetera. You will also see suggestions for similar keywords to try at the bottom of your page. If you don’t have a keyword in mind for any reason, then click on the “Make A Random Domain” button to spark ideas, fuel creativity and inspiration, and capture an available domain name. If you happen to find a domain name that you think is the one, then you can save it for later or purchase it through links to domain registrars like GoDaddy.com. Lastly, with Bust A Name you can run a domain search on the site to see whether or not the domain name you like and have in common is available or taken.
4. Name Mesh
Name Mesh has been one of my go-to domain name generator apps for awhile.
It's super straight forward to use and very intuitive.
What I love about Name Mesh (pros):
- It's fast
- It's creative
- It shows a ton of different categories for domains (common, new, short, etc)
- It's worked for me for awhile!
Where Name Mesh can improve (cons):
- It doesn't let you specify groupings of keywords like Bust A Name does
- Can't bulk input a ton of ideas at once
If you have several keywords in mind, then Name Mesh is the domain name generator tool for you. It will let you choose up to 2 or 3 keywords to enter into the search box, and then generator your personalized list of suggested and available domain names. Name Mesh will suggest ideas based on five categories: how common it is, how new it is, how short it is, how similar it is, and how likely it will be to boost SEO rankings. Once you plug your keywords into the search box, you can filter your results based on domain extension, maximum length, and domains that are still unregistered. Name Mesh will also suggest other keywords for you to search based on the ones you have already searched for.
5. NameStall
NameStall is a domain name generator that offers a wide variety of tools and features to help you in your search for a perfect and available domain name. These features include a similar domain name suggestion tool, instant domain name search tool, brand-able domain name list, and high-paying keywords search tool. You can start your search with their domain name generator tool, which will help you search by keyword and any other filter you want to use, such as popular keywords, basic English words, industry categories, or parts of speech. You can also choose where you want to place your keyword in the domain name, like at the beginning or at the end, or if you want a hyphenated domain name. You can also filter by extension. If so, you will receive a list of options that are both available and taken, registered or not yet registered. Just click the “register” link besides the domain name you like in order to officially take it.
6. Nameboy
Nameboy is a domain name generator that will help you find any available domain names based on just the keywords you choose. You can enter up to two keywords per search and Nameboy will instantly deliver a list of suggested domain names using those keywords. Their suggestion charts make it easy to determine which extensions are available and which ones are already taken. You can also see which domain names are available for resale as well as allow hyphenated suggestions or keywords that rhyme. Nameboy is a tool that works well for those who already have an idea of what keywords they want to use but are looking for suggestions on different versions or variations of those keywords.
7. Domain Puzzler
Domain Puzzler is a simple and easy to use domain name generator tool that comes with many options and features for developing the perfect available domain name for your blog or website. Get started with the “easy” version and insert your ideal keywords, choose your domain name extensions, and search for domain name ideas based on your chosen criteria. Domain Puzzler is a great tool because it allows you to include numerous keywords as opposed to just limiting you to one or two like most other domain name generator tools on this list. It will also combine your keywords into many different variations. You can add results to your list of favorite domain names or try for a more advanced and specific search, as well as use the tool to compare the SEO page rankings of many different domain names.
8. Domains Bot
Domains Bot works as both a domain name suggestion tool and a domain name search tool. You can start by searching a keyword you want for your domain name and Domains Bot will show you all available domain name ideas based on that keyword, combined keywords, or keywords that are similar. However, if you don’t have any ideas for keywords, then try searching by your brand or business industry for some keyword ideas. Name Station also boasts being featured on sites like Mashable, SEOMoz, TechCrunch, and many more, giving Name Station a lot of credibility that makes it worth checking out.
10. Panabee
Panabee is a domain name search tool, domain name generator, and business name generator all wrapped in one. You can get started with Panabee by starting with just two keywords and searching for domain name suggestions based on those two keywords. If the domain name you want for your blog or website is already taken, then you can visit domain name registrars like GoDaddy.com where you can view other available extensions of the domain name you want. However, if you don’t like the suggestions that Panabee gives you, then Panabee will deliver terms related to your keywords that you can search for. As well as showing you available and unregistered domain names, Panabee will also show you whether or not your ideal domain name is being used as a username on social media.
11. Domainhole
Domainhole is a domain name generator tool that comes with seven brainstorming tools that can help you find the perfect available domain name for your blog, website, or brand regardless of if you have a keyboard in mind or not. Domainhole will help you look for recently expired domain names, or help you create random domain names that are catchy, creative, and easy to pronounce. Domainhole will also let you check any and all domain extensions to help you find exactly what you need for your blog or website’s web address. Domain Typer is a domain name generator tool that is quick, easy to use, and intuitive. All you have to do is simply enter the keywords you want for your domain name and Domain Typer will show you whether or not that domain name is available for purchase and registration. It will also simultaneously generate random domain name ideas for you if you do not already have an idea of what you would like for your domain name. And in cases where your first choice for a domain name is not available, then Domain Typer will allow you to view a list of domain name hacks and alternatives that it suggests.

Domize offers complete safety, security, and speed as a domain name generator tool. Basically Domize allows you to search for good and available domain names in an encrypted environment while also checking whether or not a domain name has been previously registered, due to expire, or available for purchase. 16. Wordoid
Wordoid really lets you work up your creative side as it is a domain name generator tool that creates made-up words for your domain name or web address. Once you combine these words, you can then choose your keyword placement or how you want your keywords to be ordered within your web address, such as at the beginning or the end of your domain name. you can also use hyphens to separate any suggested terms and keywords, choose the extension you want, and view the end results to see how they look and sound and if you like them or not.

Dot-O-Mator is the right domain name generator tool for you if you do not even know where to start on coming up with a domain name and have absolutely no ideas for names to begin with. Dot-O-Mator lets you create domain name suggestions by selecting any list of words from two categories, like colors and shapes, for the beginning and end of your domain name. If you see a domain name that you like from the suggestions, then you can combine the two and see the result. Enter the domain name and web address that you want and I Want My Name will let you know if it is up for grabs or if it has already been taken. If it has already been taken, then I Want My Name will show you alternative domain names and the prices for registering them at different domain name and web address online registrars. You can also filter the search results by hiding domain names that are already taken.

Ok, BatName was definitely created by engineers.
It's fast, efficient, and they're not trying to monetize!
BatName is actually pretty unique compared to the other generators.
How it works:

Ok but what makes it really stand out is these hashtags:
So after you enter hashtags, the tool sees those as a grouping and finds all the synonyms of that word.
Super cool.
This will 10x your domain search since you don't have to think of synonyms on your own.
Downside is that right now it's only showing .com's – but that's ok. We still love it.
