Company focused solely on shared services
FastDomain is a shared web hosting company that does not offer VPS or dedicated hosting services or in the cloud. In fact, only it has a shared web hosting package available. From that basic package you can select some improvements and other characteristics, but will have an extra cost.

The company has been on the market since 2005, and is part of Endurance International Group, which also owns major hosting companies like BlueHost and HostMonster. This makes it obvious that the big company that owns FastDomain only used as a platform to promote their shared server services for those who really only need the most basic benefit. There is nothing wrong with this, as many people appreciate the simplicity of what it offers.

While obviously not a good choice for those who need any kind of high-end services, remains a respected web hosting company that can easily meet the needs of many different customers who just want a simple site with hosting accessible.

Our Official FastDomain Hosting Review

FastDomain has been in business since 2005. They are part of the Endurance International Group, a group who oversees and is the parent company of several Web hosting providers.

Best Features of FastDomain Hosting

At first glance, there are many reasons for people to finally settle upon FastDomain Hosting as their hosting provider of choice.

They’re Incredibly Simple

First and foremost, FastDomain is remarkably straightforward. Instead of offering people 30+ different ways to host their website, FastDomain only has one option. Now, on the surface, one option may not seem like enough to satisfy anybody. After all, hosting needs are so diverse that it may be close to impossible to find a solution that can be classified as one-size-fits-all. However, that is precisely the premise that makes FastDomain it’s so enticing to several people.

Stable Hosting for Basic Sites

Although they may appear to have a specialized and limited audience, they take the one-size-fits-all mantra to a whole new level. If what you’re looking for fits with what they’re offering, you may have found yourself a match made in heaven. They offer far more features in their one hosting plan than any webmaster can possibly hope to use, so don’t be surprised if you fall into their audience.

Decent Technical Support

The entire premise of FastDomain is to get people up and going as quickly as possible. This is why they only offer one shared hosting plan. With a premise like that, it is to be expected that their audience is not a technically-minded group of people. That means that the people they hire for technical support must be technically-minded enough to fill in the gaps. Their customer service hours open 24/7, year-round. They offer the same level of service through live chat and phone channels. To round out their support offering, FastDomain is also host to an excellent email support ticketing system.

The Value for the Price Is Amazing

I mentioned earlier that FastDomain may be seeking customers under a one-size-fits-all umbrella. This may appear to single out a specialized audience, unable to cater to some technically-minded people that have a particular set of needs. You may be questioning how true that may be considering what you get in that one hosting plan. FastDomain has outlined 67 fantastic features and reasons that make them stand out. It appears that they may support everything under the sun and then some.

Downsides of FastDomain Hosting

This is the part where we get to shed some light on some areas that we felt FastDomain Hosting might be falling short on.

They May Be Too Simple

Despite the sheer number of features that fast hosting may offer, merely having a one-size-fits-all type of hosting plan may be a major turnoff for several people. They certainly don’t leave too much to the imagination. What can be said is this. FastDomain does not offer VPS hosting plans, cloud hosting plans or dedicated hosting plans.

This feature, or this lack of features, can turn many people away. Several people need VPS and dedicated hosting plans. Simply the fact alone that FastDomain does not offer neither VPS nor dedicated hosting plans will cause the same people to turn elsewhere for their hosting needs.

No Room for Upgrading

The lack of hosting plans also means that there is no room for upgrading. I stated this once before, but it bears mentioning again. FastDomain Hosting does not offer VPS plans. FastDomain Hosting does not provide dedicated hosting plans. Finally, FastDomain Hosting does not provide cloud hosting plans.

If all you want to do is run a simple website, then FastDomain might be perfect for you. However, if you plan on running an e-commerce site, you may be better served elsewhere, as FastDomain does not offer programs that will allow you or your business to scale or grow.

Too Much Has Been Sacrificed

FastDomain is a lot of things. They provide a lot of features. They provide a lot of features for near dirt cheap. However, it appears that they had to sacrifice a lot of things to achieve this level. Many people complain about their level of uptime. Several others complain about the degree of customer service they receive. Several sites end up not recommending FastDomain as a result.

Bottom Line

If all you want to do is run a basic website, FastDomain is your ticket. They are affordable, feature-rich, and as long as your basic site doesn’t have any e-commerce requirements, you’re golden. However, this is where people run into issues with FastDomain. People choose hosting providers based on a variety of criteria – many of which are e-commerce features. These features include shopping carts, scripting abilities, SSL certificates and more. On top of all that, if you can’t scale your website, then you know – right from the get-go – that you’ll be moving from one hosting provider to another in the future as you grow.

The thing you need to ask yourself is this – do you fall into their specialized audience? Do you intend on never growing? If you do, you may be better served to look elsewhere.
